Manildra’s Mandagery Creek Bridge works will commence in 2023, with the first sod turned on Friday October 7th.
Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Sam Farraway said residents, tourists and Central West freight operators will benefit from the new wider, stronger bridge to be built on Henry Parkes Way.
“Henry Parkes Way is an important link between Orange and Parkes and the existing 92-year-old bridge is just not up to scratch anymore,” Mr Farraway said.
“About 2000 vehicles use this bridge each and every day which is why the NSW Liberals Nationals Government have committed $12 million to replace this ageing piece of infrastructure and create a stronger link for the region.” Mr Farraway Explains.
A new footpath will be built on the northern side of the bridge to provide more convenient pedestrian access across the new bridge.
There will be full bridge closures for up to 10 weekends in 2023, where all vehicles will need to follow a detour via Cudal with Transport for NSW to notify residents two weeks in advance before any closures take place. For the safety of workers and motorists there will also be a 40 km/h speed limit in place during work hours which may affect travel times.
Vehicles over 3.5 metres wide will not be able to travel across the bridge during the construction. An oversize, over mass vehicle detour will be in place via Cudal.
Work to replace the existing bridge on Henry Parkes Way, is expected to be completed by June 2024, weather permitting.
