Celebrating 34 years in 2025, Flickerfest is Australia’s leading Academy Qualifying and BAFTA-recognised short film festival, renowned for showcasing the very best in short filmmaking from around the world.
As part of its 2025 National Tour, Flickerfest is excited to return to Canowindra at the Rosnay Vineyard Cellar Door with a screening of The Best of Australian Shorts.
This inspiring and award-winning collection, fresh from their premieres at Flickerfest Bondi, offers local audiences a window into the most exciting new short films being made across Australia today.
Sunday 27 April 7pm, shines a spotlight on the incredible short film talent that exists in our emerging Australian industry with a host of Australian stories honoring our unique identity and culture with our Best Of Australian Shorts programme.
Highlights include Hydraulic which was filmed locally on the property of Trudi Houston and Andrew Refshauge, Riverslea, in the granite hills outside Cowra, about a father who takes his son on a wild goose chase and don’t miss the world premiere of Marcia and The Shark, winner of the Panasonic Award For Best Australian Short Film, starring Tilda Cobham Hervey (I Am Women, Hotel Mumbai) and the heartwarming and delightful The Fix-It-Man And FixIt-Wooman, set in the bright lights of Alice Springs from a talented group of artists from the Yarrenyty Arltere Town Camp. Winner of the Yoram Gross Award for Best Australian Animation at Flickerfest 2025. The Dog, starring Kate Walshe (Grey’s Anatomy), delivers a powerful and moving performance and laugh out loud at the delicious black Australian comedy Candy Bar from director Nash Edgerton (Mr In Between), written byand starring award winning actor Damon Herriman (Breaking Bad).
