“Success comes to me when I work hard.” This has just been one of many ‘growth mindset’ themes for St Eddie’s students as they commence the new school year. For a number of years now, building student engagement and developing an understanding of positive thinking in students has proven crucial to student learning. Each week students are acknowledged for their efforts in this area of schooling.
It has been a wonderful start to the year for our little school, with students excelling in and out of the classroom. What an amazing start it has been for our kindergarten students who have already begun to read and develop a great understanding of numbers. Our year 1 and 2 students are producing some outstanding pieces of writing, while years 3 and 4 are leading the way with their numeracy work. Our year 5/6 leadership class are setting a fine example to their younger colleagues. Our buddy system continues to be an excellent way of providing support to our kindergarten students. Year 6 are counting down the days before they head to Sydney for the National Young Leader’s Day Conference.
Swimming has certainly been the highlight on the sporting stage; however we have a number of students in year 5/6 heading over to Bathurst and Dubbo in the coming weeks to participate in the Bathurst Diocesan winter sports trials. Students will be striving to gain selection in soccer, rugby league and union, cricket, netball and hockey.
St Eddie’s have had a great start to 2021, as we continue our Lenten journey towards the season of Easter. St Edward’s may only be small in size, but we are doing big things in and out of the classrooms.
