Don’t Forget To Vote: This Saturday, 14th October 2023, Australians will have their say in a referendum about whether to change the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing a body called the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice.
Voters will be asked to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’ on a single question. The question on the ballot paper will be: “A Proposed Law: to alter the Constitution to recognise the First Peoples of Australia by establishing an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Voice. Do you approve this proposed alteration?”
Polling places will be open between 8am and 6pm, on voting day, including:

• Billimari Public Hall, 60 Logan St
• Gooloogong War Memorial Hall, Main St
• Cargo Public School, 10 Hamilton St

A Successful Career In Medicine: Dr Kishore Kumar, a local St Edwards graduate, is at present working as a neurologist and genetics researcher at Garvan institute of Medical Research in Sydney. He has PhD and fellowship in Neurology, specialising in movement disorder. These are neuromuscular disorders with poor control over our day to day activities, such as Parkinson’s, Chorea, Multiple Sclerosis, Muscular Dystrophy, Familial essential tremors, restless legs etc. Dr Kumar is also a consultant at Concord, and St Vincent ‘s Hospitals and was recently appointed an Associate Professor at the University of NSW.
