To the Editor,
Reading Rob Pearce’ letter can only fill you with admiration for a well balanced, un-biased overview of the complete farrago that is ‘The Voice’ referendum.
While I cannot claim the following as my idea, I received an email with a tick-toc attachment in which a young lady explained a way out of the divisive proposition. She outlaid a plan where the 11 members of the current Parliament who claimed aboriginal heritage should be formed into an advisory committee presenting to Government the suggestions of how to advance aboriginal solutions. She pointed out that all 11 came from the major parties and covered all Australian States and answered to their electorates. Simple and brilliant as a concept without the YES/NO division now evident while removing racism from the argument.
Logic has it that to call out racist. first one must recognise racism within yourself!
