The visitor economy has seen a huge down-turn throughout the Orange360 network (Blayney, Cabonne and Orange LGAs) during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
Tourism is worth close to $500m per annum and equates to 41% of the dollars spent in our region. Local small businesses employ over 6,000 people in our region, all who have been dreadfully impacted.
In support of local businesses and as a vital restart to our local tourism and hospitality sectors, Newcrest and Orange360 are once again partnering to provide a much-needed economic boost to Orange and its surrounding villages through the Newcrest & Orange360 Spin and Win Giveaway.
Orange360 has successfully secured $220,000 from Newcrest’s Community Support Fund for the initiative. It’s a huge win for the Orange region, providing not only a much needed cash injection, but also an opportunity for businesses to showcase their products and our region to new customers.
With over 1,500 prizes to be won, ranging in value from $10 up to $800, the Newcrest & Orange360 Spin and Win Giveaway will launch on Monday September 27, supporting local hospitality, producers and retail businesses that have been hit hard due to the NSW state-wide lockdown. Prizes will be split into two categories, with some available exclusively to Central West locals to enjoy in the region and others being shipped around Australia to share in a taste of Orange at home.
“The NSW state-wide lockdowns have been extremely difficult for many of our operators, we have a committed and strong focus on supporting our local businesses through this difficult time and have successfully applied for substantial funding through the Newcrest Community Support Fund. With this funding, we’re aiming to build on what we achieved last year, when our previous Newcrest funded Staycation Giveaway injected $120,000 into the local economy,” said Orange360 General Manager, Caddie Marshall.
