Young female ambassadors from across the western half of the state gathered in Orange on Saturday, 4th February to compete for one of only three positions to represent the region at the Sydney Royal Easter Show, to be held in April 2023.
Local Show Societies presented their Local Young Woman representatives to a panel of judges to discuss local, regional, state and national topics.
It was a tremendous honour to have Canowindra zone winner, Joanna Balcombe attend the ceremony where she continued to impress the judges with her reflections on rural life.
Joanna has now been successful in progressing through to the next round of the competition as the Zone 6 representative at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.
“Now that I have made it through to the Sydney Royal, I am looking forward to meeting new people and seeing the show from a different perspective as I’m used to seeing it from the sheep pavilion,” saidJoanna.
Since becoming Canowindra’s Young Women back in September, Joanna has been busy completing her university degree in Agricultural Science whilst also working at GrainCorp and judging sheep competitions including the Forbes 1X Ewe sale.
“I will cherish the memories I have already made, plus the ones that I’m sure to make in the coming months. I am looking forward to being a young voice for my community and hope to become a role model for younger people in Canowindra.”
Congratulations Joanna, and good luck at the Sydney Royal!
