Moorbel Hall dazzled on Saturday night with 150 people attending the Canowindra Pre-School Diamond Jubilee, celebrating 60 years of care and education for the children of Canowindra. Moorbel Hall was transformed into an amazing venue by the hard working Pre-School committee who used gum leaves, olive branches, festoon lights and fairy lights to make it a spectacular sight.
The committee has been working tirelessly all year to put the Diamond Jubilee together with many hours spent on securing auction items, planning food and drink menus and the decorations for the hall.
All this hard work has now finally paid off and will benefit the Pre-School for years to come. The final figure raised on the night through live and silent auctions, raffles, cash donations and bar and ticket sales is still being finalised.
Peter Watt was the Master of Ceremonies, Nadine Daly President of the Pre-School and Liz Francis Director of the Pre-School gave great speeches dressed in Royal Crowns in a tribute to the Royal Wedding, and Alison Beasley past Director of the Pre-School gave an insight into the history of Canowindra Pre-School.
Tom Campbell from Bowyer and Livermoreand Ben Redfern from Ray White Emms Mooney ran a great entertaining live auction raising over $10,000. Eat Your Greens from Eugowra served an amazing two-course meal of local lamb, chicken, frangipane tart and caramel cheesecake and the band Nuthin’ 2 Serious had the dance floor rocking all night.
Adelaide Lawrence, Administration Clerk at the Pre-School was asked to cut the cake in recognition of her 10 years of service
at the Pre-School. The cake was delicious and made by Pre-School educator Katie Kelly.
This now means that the new Administration building will be able to be built later in the year at the Pre-School. The Administration
building will be the new home for the Administration team to work from and it will also feature a multi-purpose room for the
whole community to use either for meetings, mother’s groups or play groups.
The committee and staff of the Pre-School would like to thank everyone for attending and the local businesses for their generous donations to the auctions and raffles making it such a successful night!
