
Donations of fresh food; excess fruit and vegetables you have grown for example, are fantastic and always welcome. Canowindra High School are regular supporters of Foodbasket, providing fresh produce from the school garden.
The Canowindra Connections Centre (CCC) is back on deck for 2025 with a fantastic calendar of regular scheduled events and are seeking input from the community about what they would like to see at their community centre.
This year will see the return of the popular Meals and Memories, a catered three course lunch with a “theme”. Head back to the 70s for the first meal of the year coming up on 22 March. A donation of $20 towards catering is appreciated.
Blokes BBQ Brunch is making a comeback on Sunday 30 March from 10am, and the search is on for for some younger blokes to take on the organising. Guest speakers will attend throughout the year to discuss everything from farming to mental health, with a number of great speakers already booked in. Please get in touch with the team at CCC if you are any good at slinging snags and herding cats. They would also be very grateful for a sponsor to come onboard to see this event fly.
Family Games afternoons are held during the school holidays. The next family games is scheduled for the afternoon of Anzac Day. A donation of $10 per family is appreciated for catering.
Back by popular demand, Spicks and Spandex 70’s trivia will be on Saturday 7 June. Local band the Cheap Seats will be playing some of the trivia questions and there will be prizes for dressing up.
A new event for 2025, the Canowindra Carp Muster will be held on Sunday 20 July.
This family-friendly fishing competition and river clean-up event is being held in conjunction with CCC, OzFish, Mid-Lachlan Landcare, Canowindra High School and Cabonne Council. There will be games, prizes and some good old fashioned fun.
Get in touch if your organisation would like to be involved or if you are a farmer looking for some free fertiliser. This is an alcohol free event.
Verto Courses will be available again after August 2025. Connections Centre fund people from Canowindra that do not qualify for the free course.
There will also be a range of regular weekly events on offer including:
• Tuesday morning playgroup: 9.30am to 11.30am. Free and BYO everything. A great chance to meet other parents and find out what’s going on.
• Thursday and Friday Food Basket: Budget-friendly groceries with purpose. Purchases go directly back to the Canowindra community. CCC are increasing the range of chem-free and health products and would love to offer a free “pop-up” table for small producers wanting to sell their food items or cleaning products. Get in touch with the CCC for more information.
