The Canowindra International Balloon Challenge is now only days away and the the town is buzzing with excitement. Preparations for the influx of visitors have begun, with business and restaurants stocking up and opening longer hours for the weeklong event.
The town will host upwards of 10,000 visitors during the five days, with most staying in the area. Accommodation is fully booked, with tourists seeking alternative accommodation options such as hipcamp, where local landowners can offer accommodation on their properties.
Café and restaurant owners will be under the pump, with opening hours extended and special menus on offer. Don’t forget local services and organisations will be hosting a sausage sizzle and CWA will have their all-day breakfast at the Canowindra Balloon Challenge street parade.
Shop owners are expected to have record breaking trading days, with local stores filled to the brim with stock. On Saturday 15th April, the parade will attract thousands of visitors to our historical main street and shopping district.
The Balloon glow will kick off at 3pm, providing another opportunity for locals and visitors to support our town and its economy. Craft stalls, food trucks, wine, cider and beer will be available to purchase at the Balloon Glow.
It’s not too late to play your part in preparing our town for the Balloon Challenge by volunteering with the many of the organisations assisting with the challenge, keeping our streets and gardens tidy and offering a friendly welcome to our visitors.
