On Tuesday, 13th December, Canowindra Preschool unveiled their latest fundraising project, a hard-cover cookbook.
Liz Francis, previous director of Canowindra Preschool started the project, however ran out of time to do it. Brownin Lay, the current director, took on the project with the help of several other staff members.
The creation of the cookbook was also a very special process. Families, community members, local schools, past directors and staff members were all asked to contribute to the cookbook. It will go on to be a special keepsake for many Canowindra residents.
“Our cookbook is a keepsake, there are lots of stories about the recipes and why they are special, it also includes lots of photos of children and families past and present as well as businesses that are an important part of our extended community. We have the preschool history written within the book, how it started a list of the past directors and committee presidents. A hard cover quality coffee table book that can be kept for generations to view and ponder,” explains Bronwin.
Cooking has always been a very important part of the Canowindra Preschool Curriculum, and many cookbooks have been published throughout the years. A couple still sitting in Canowindra pantries.
Bronwin explains the importance of having past directors and families contribute to the cookbook. “We are a community run preschool and cannot survive without them. It is essential that we maintain a relationship with the Canowindra and district community, and what better way than gathering photos and recipes of the past and present contributors of our preschool.”
With the cookbook hopefully arriving this week, residents will be able to purchase the cookbook for $40. It will be available to purchase directly from the school via calling 02 6344 1261 or email admin@canowindrapreschool.com
