A routine inspection completed by Cabonne Council last week has found Bangaroo Bridge unsafe to use. As of Friday the 22nd March 2019, the bridge will be closed to traffic until further notice.
Located over the Belubula River on Rivers Road, inspections have revealed that there is significant damage to the structural integrity of the bridge, making it unsafe for vehicles to pass over. The state and safety of the bridge has been of interest to both Cabonne Council and Cowra Council due to its position as
a boundary between the two shires. It also provides access between Gooloogong, Canowindra and Billimari for a number of rural residents.
Signage is in place at both ends of the bridge advising drivers of the closure with alternative access available across the Belubula River via Settlement Bridge Road. Cabonne Council and Cowra Council are working together on options to reinstate access across the river at this location. At this stage the Councils are unable to give a timeframe as to when the bridge will be reopened.
For further information regarding the closure, please contact either Cabonne Council on 6392 3200 or Cowra Council on 6340 2070.
